Device Discovery

Device Discovery scans your network and registers devices so you can bind them to workflow nodes and monitor health. It is optional — most protocols also work with manual host/topic/address in the Inspector. See Direct connect vs Discovery.

Supported protocols

  • Matter, Zigbee, Z-Wave
  • MQTT brokers and topic discovery
  • BLE / Bluetooth LE peripherals
  • CAN Bus adapters
  • Modbus TCP — subnet/host scan with optional unit-ID (slave) probing via read-only FC3
  • BACnet/IP (Who-Is / I-Am)
  • mDNS / Bonjour, SSDP / UPnP, CoAP
  • Network and USB printers

Typical workflow

  1. Open Studio → Discovery and select an intent (smart home, industrial, printers, etc.).
  2. Run scan; review discovered devices and metadata.
  3. Register devices to your workspace — they appear in Inspector pickers on action nodes.
  4. Or skip Discovery: add palette nodes and type IP, topic, or address directly.
